Alan J. Benson
Alan was born in Vancouver and completed his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law at the University of British Columbia. He was called to the BC bar in July 1982 and has been practising law for more than 30 years. He has extensive experience in multiple areas of the law. Alan started his career in New Westminster in 1983 and then moved to South Surrey in 1988, where he is currently practising. Alan’s strength lies in his ability to provide his clients with practical, efficient and cost-effective solutions. His files range from typical contractual disputes, real estate transactions, divorces and probate matters to highly contentious divorce and estate litigation files. Moreover, over the course of 30 years Alan has built trustworthy relationships with financial institutions, realtors and other experts such as accountants, appraisers and psychologists/psychiatrists to help him best advise his clients.
Alan is very approachable and is committed to the highest standards of integrity and legal excellence. He believes open communication is central to developing a long-lasting relationship with his clients. Alan works hard to ensure his clients are educated on the legal options available to them so they can make informed decisions about how to proceed. He tailors his strategy on each file depending on the individual needs of the client.
In addition, Alan is active in the community. He is also a member of the South Surrey Rotary Club and volunteers monthly with the South Surrey elderly pro-bono clinic. Alan is a marathon runner and has run in 3 Boston Marathons (2010, 2013 and 2014).
